Canvas print of a reed pen drawing of a willow tree over my friends pond in my village in Ludgershall. Drawn on location in the summer of 2025 using walnut ink on A4 fabriano paper. I made the reed pens from old bullrushes from the pond in the same way that van Gogh would have done to create his famous drawings in Provence. I have been fascinated by the range of marks he made in his drawings and wanted to explore this in my own drawings. The walnut ink used by him has a range of warn subtle tones. This is all about drawing from nature and finding patterns and movement and transferring it onto the paper surface.
