At the beginning of my landscape oil painting journey in 2018 I was a wildcard on the Sky Arts Landscape Competition which is a popular tv show featuring landscape painting. I dont really approve of art competitions as it is rather ridiculous asking people to judge one painting against another as it comes down to personal taste at the end of the day. But I wanted to see if I could paint under those circumstances and within a timeframe of 4 hrs. I tend to complete a painting now within 2.5 hrs now but that was a challenge then. It was a mad day surrounded by hundreds of people and other artists. I got the first taste of how lovely the general public are when they chat to you and talk about the painting. Everyone is always complementary and polite and its my favourite part of being out painting.
