Summer light through the trees

Plein air painting of the summer light through the trees at Wotton gardens

Painting en plein air at my favourite local spot at Wotton in the pleasure gardens. It was high summer and I setup along a woodland walk. In the distance you could see the grassland up to the edge of the lake. I was attracted to the way the light flickered on the ground as the leaves moved in the wind allowing the bright sunlight through. I apinted for 3-4 hours and refined the painting back in the studio.
