This paper print is a reproduction of a life drawing on a theme of Woman in the red dress, painted from a pose in the life drawing studio. It is in expressive red inks and coloured pencil on a complementary turquoise background.
Inspiration
This image came out of a life drawing session when drawing our regular model Manko. She walked in before the session wearing a red dress with a cape and she looked like the character from the 1999 film The Matrix, where she serves as a computer simulation to distract the protagonist, Neo. We asked her to just drop the dress off her shoulders and I had this beautiful three quarter view of her with a strong profile. I added the complementary blue background to balance the image.
