This canvas print is a reproduction of a watercolor sketch of the punt station at the Cherwell Boathouse in Oxford in England. The original was painted on location in Spring time. A couple learning how to punt caught my attention as they rocked from side to side trying not to fall in.

Inspiration

I was inspired to paint this view of the punts on the river Cherwell having observed a couple having a punting lesson. There was a lot of screaming and arguing going on as they tried their best not to fall in. The view down the rows of punts moored along the river is just too good to pass up - a composition ready and waiting to capture.
