I was lucky to be allowed to draw live at this concert celebrating the life and work of the composer Harry Birtwistle. Lawrence Power lead this incredible group of musicians who took me to another place as I did my best to translate the performance into a visual form with drawing. I was allowed to change my view of the stage in the second half so I could capture a different relationship with the musicians. I was emotionally and physically exhausted at the end after being immersed so deeply in the moment. I think the audience had never seen an artist doing this before so I was rather a novelty. My thanks to all those who came up to me for a chat and their kind comments about the drawings. I think the musicians enjoyed the results and recognised what I had captured. So my deepest thanks to them for allowing me into their world.
