I spent a year doing a course at Newlyn Art Scool which gave me an excuse to draw the Cornish landscape when I was down there. One of my favourite haunts is St Michaels Mount opposite Marazion just along the coast from Penzance. The beach is a mecca for dog walkers and when the sun is out its packed with people. A great hunting ground for drawing subjects. As my wife sunbathed next to me I drew this scene in charcoal in an A2 sketchpad using compressed charcoal blocks.
