I joined the London Plein Air Painters on their annual summer painting trip. This year it was based in Weymouth in Dorset and we painted at a variety of locations including Studland Bay. There is a lovely cafe and easy access down steps to th beach. I turned right down from the steps towards a large bank of trees that petered out on a point. It was an obvious location to paint as it had all the ingredients of a good composition. I also noticed three old stumps in a row along the beach that acted as an ideal repeating form to reinforce the perspective. The light was intense so all the colours were a variation on turquoise and deep greens. There were at least 50 of us painting that day and we have a throwdown and shared the work at the end.
